When a powerful rainstorm swept through Cleveland, Ohio, Ann D. headed to her basement to check for damage only to find water pooling on the floor. At first, she assumed it was rainwater seeping in from outside. But something didn’t feel right.
“Something just felt off,” Ann said. “It wasn’t behaving like typical storm runoff.”
Eventually she realized the water pooling was coming from the home’s main drain, which likely meant a sewer line issue. Fortunately, Ann had enrolled in a sewer line repair plan from HomeServe a few years earlier after receiving a letter in the mail through her utility provider, Cleveland Water. That decision turned out to be a lifesaver.
She contacted HomeServe immediately, and a local and reliable member of the contractor network, Carlong Plumbing, was dispatched to her home. After several snaking attempts failed to clear the blockage, a camera inspection revealed the problem: just ten feet into the line, there was a complete collapse of a portion several feet long. The repair would be extensive, and costly.
“The total came to over $5,800,” Ann said. “But as a customer of HomeServe, I didn’t have to worry about it because they took care of the repair to the coordination of the bill. To say it certainly paid off would be an understatement.”
This wasn’t Ann’s first experience with HomeServe. She had called in for covered repairs a couple of times before and had always been impressed by the professionalism and responsiveness of the team.
“You never know when something like this will happen, and when it does, you’ll be glad you’re protected.”
“They’ve always been great,” she said. “Every time I’ve called, they’ve handled things quickly and professionally.”
In fact, Ann was so pleased with this repair experience, she decided to expand her coverage by adding a water heater repair plan. She saw it as a smart move that could prevent potential future headaches.
Her positive experience has also inspired her to advocate for HomeServe within her own family. Her son recently purchased a home on the same street, and Ann plans to make sure he signs up for coverage right away.
“I told him, ‘You need to sign up for this immediately,’” she said. “You never know when something like this will happen, and when it does, you’ll be glad you’re protected.”
