John D. of Charlottesville, Virginia, loves his home. He had it built 40 years ago, and he wants to remain there as long as he can.
“I love it,” he said. “It really is my home, and I want to age in place.”
As a retiree, John relies on a network of service providers who assist him in keeping his beloved home safe and in great shape. So, when he noticed a neighbor had a lot of earth-moving equipment in their yard several years ago, he inquired about it. The neighbor informed him that they had had a water line issue, but the repair and repair bill were handled through a plan from HomeServe.
“I had dealt with home warranty companies before – I have a pool out back and had another (warranty) company for the (pool) pumps and everything – and it had left a bad taste in my mouth,” he said.
However, given his neighbor’s positive experience, he enrolled in a plan of his own – and it served him well, because he saved more than $8,000 when he had his own water line problem in October.
“I was not pleased with the situation, but I was very pleased with the experience,” he said.
John’s local water authority alerted him that his meter was reading 20 gallons of water used every minute – indicating that he had a water leak. After confirming with a local plumber that there was a leak from his water service line, he gave HomeServe a call.
After confirming there was a leak, HomeServe dispatched Leo’s Plumbing and Repair to replace 40 feet of water line from the meter to John’s home. The contractor explained how he would minimize the impact of the repair to John’s yard, walking the repair route with him. John really appreciated that level of customer service.
“HomeServe took control of (the repair),” he said. “The attitude was ‘this is our problem.’ I felt like I was a part of a family or had a resource. You were very responsible and attentive. Everyone I spoke to when I called, the contractors who were brought out here, were very competent and professional.”
"I believe in the product in a way that I don’t believe in other home warranty companies. I tried two or three and they tried to undercut me. I don’t have any of that feeling with HomeServe. If I need it, they’ll take care of me from beginning to end. I’m a HomeServe person."
“I paid you the biggest compliment I could – I immediately went and enrolled in a lot of other (emergency home repair) plans. I believe in the product in a way that I don’t believe in other home warranty companies. I tried two or three and they tried to undercut me. I had (a contractor) out here who told me, ‘They want me to do this (repair), but if I do that, in sixty or ninety days, you’re going to have the same problem. I don’t have any of that feeling with HomeServe. If I need it, they’ll take care of me from beginning to end.”
“I’m a HomeServe person. I won’t live in this house without this product.”
